NEWARK, Del. – For the second-straight year, the Philadelphia Flyers Caravan will make a stop at the University of Delaware, coming to Fred Rust Ice Arena on Friday, September 19 from 4:30-6:30 p.m. Fans will have the opportunity to meet the inaugural UD ice hockey team as well as Flyers' alumni (including Riley Cote, Bernie Parent, and Jim Watson, among others), the Flyers ice team, and Gritty at the free community event.
At the caravan, fans can look forward to getting their hands on a lineup of exclusive Flyers-themed giveaways, including straw hats, canvas keychains, Gritty magnet bottle openers, and Gritty straw toppers. At select stops along the Caravan, fans will have the opportunity to shop official Flyers apparel and novelties at the Flyers merch pop-up.
Delaware and the Flyers are paired in a first-ever partnership between an NHL team and NCAA Division I women's ice hockey program. The partnership is strategically aligned around growing the game of hockey, community engagement, and launching the first NCAA Division I hockey program in the state of Delaware.
The Blue Hens are set to drop the puck on their inaugural season on Friday, September 25 at 6 p.m. in Fred Rust Arena. Head coach Allison Coomey and her staff have put together a strong roster that is set to compete in Atlantic Hockey America (AHA), as the 45th Division I women's ice hockey program in the nation.
