NEWARK, Del. - University of Delaware softball defeated Bryant, 7-0, and Le Moyne, 8-0 on Sunday, March 1 to close out the Blue Hen Invitational. Karli Challburg threw a shutout against the Bulldogs, then Josie Crossman shut out Le Moyne in the final game. Delaware also totaled five home runs on the day between the two games, with Sorella Gallucci hitting two against Le Moyne.

HEN HIGHLIGHTS, VS. BRYANT

Katie Scheivert had a leadoff home run, two doubles, three RBIs, and scored two runs.
Gianna Costaro hit a solo home run.
Sydney Shaffer was 2-for-4 with two RBIs and a double.
Sorella Gallucci and Allie Nankivell both went 1-for-2. Gallucci added a walk, while Nankivell recorded an RBI and a run scored.
Ryleigh Thomas went 1-for-3.
Challburg allowed just six hits and two walks while striking out seven in all seven innings without allowing a run.

HEN HIGHLIGHTS, VS. LE MOYNE

Gallucci went 2-for-6 with two home runs, six RBIs, and two runs scored.
Bridget Chapman hit a solo home run.
Nankivell went 2-for-2.
Shaffer was 1-for-2 with an RBI and two walks.
Morgan Chambers recorded two singles and a one scored.
Scheivert went 2-for-4.
Crossman pitched six innings, allowed two hits, and struck out four while allowing zero runs.

HOW IT HAPPENED, VS. BRYANT

Scheivert hit the first pitch of the bottom of the first for a leadoff home run to give Delaware a 1-0 lead.
Challburg allowed baserunners in the first three innings but had two strikeouts and just two hits allowed.
Costaro homered in the bottom of the third inning to put UD up 2-0.
Challburg stranded two runners aboard in the fourth with a strikeout to retire the side.
UD put up a crooked number in the bottom half as Jamie Chandler and Grace Hausamann got into scoring position with one out. Nankivell brought in pinch runner Caylin Blazys on a squeeze bunt, Scheivert doubled in Hausamann, and Shaffer had an RBI single to give Delaware a 5-0 lead.
Challburg had her first 1-2-3 inning in the fifth and picked up another strikeout. She then left two runners on base in the sixth.
In the bottom of the sixth, Scheivert had an RBI double and Shaffer brought a run home on a groundout to put UD up 7-0.
After a leadoff double in the seventh, Challburg struck out the next three batters to end the game.

HOW IT HAPPENED, VS. LE MOYNE

Crossman needed just three pitches in a perfect first inning, garnering two groundouts and a popout. She then allowed one hit in a scoreless second before pitching a 1-2-3 third.
Delaware scored five runs in the third inning with two outs. Gallucci hit a three-run home run, then Chapman went back-to-back to put Delaware ahead 4-0. Chambers, Nankivell, and Scheivert all singled to load the bases for Shaffer, who drew a walk to put UD ahead by five.
Crossman allowed a hit and struck out one in the fourth.
Gallucci hit her second home run of the night, a two-run shot, in the fourth to go up 7-0.
Crossman retired the side in order in the fifth and sixth innings with a pair of strikeouts.
Kristen Luzon had a pinch-hit double and scored on Gallucci's sacrifice fly to give Delaware an 8-0 run-rule victory in six innings.

GAME NOTES

Delaware's shutout was its third of the season. It's the first time UD shut out two different opponents on the same day since March 7, 2020 against UMBC and Norfolk State.
UD's three home runs against Le Moyne were a season-high. Delaware hit three home runs in a game six times last season.
Gallucci's two home runs and six RBIs were a career high. The six RBIs are tied for the third most in a single game in program history. It's the 14th game in program history that a Delaware player recorded at least six RBIs, and the first since Shaffer last season against Towson on May 1.
Gallucci's six RBIs also equal a season-high for a game by a Conference USA player this season.
Crossman pitched her second shutout of the season and fourth of her career. Over her last six appearances, she has pitched to a 1.58 ERA in 35.1 innings with 29 strikeouts and just 15 hits allowed.
Challburg's shutout was the first of her career. It's the second-straight season a Delaware freshman has thrown a shutout as Crossman pitched two last year.
Scheivert hit .571/.625/.929 (8-for-14) during the Blue Hen Invitational.
Scheivert's home run was the second leadoff home run of her career, also done against Stony Brook on March 14, 2025 which also came on the first pitch.
Scheivert's three extra base hits against Bryant were a career high.
Scheivert is now up to 174 career hits, 31 doubles, and 113 runs scored. She is 11th in program history in hits, 12th in doubles, and sixth in runs scored.
Nankivell hit .600 (6-for-10) in the Blue Hen Invitational. Since Feb. 10, she is hitting .421/.450/.421 in 15 games with five multi-hit games.
Costaro's home run was the 12th of her career and her first since coming back from injury before the conclusion of the 2025 season.
Chapman's home run was the first of her career.
Shaffer upped her career walk total to 92, one shy of tying Hanna Garber for most in program history.
Chambers recorded her second career multi-hit game, with the first coming in her collegiate debut on Feb. 6 against Stonehill.

Softball season ticket deposits are available now. Season ticket packages and individual game tickets will go on sale later this winter.

Individual ticket prices will be $10 per game and $5 for youth (ages 3-12). Season ticket packages will be available at 50 percent off the single-game rate. There will also be group rates, incentives, and additional gameday experience opportunities. All seating will be general admission at Delaware Softball Diamond.

UD students will continue to receive free tickets to all home softball games.
