Delaware Stadium Home Winning Streak Halted as JMU Defeats Delaware Women's Lacrosse, 11-9

NEWARK, Del. – For the first time in 10 games, the University of Delaware women's lacrosse team lost at Delaware Stadium as James Madison University defeated the Blue Hens, 11-9, Friday evening.
Previously, Delaware had not lost at home since March 31, 2013, when Towson outdid the Hens, 14-9.
UD and JMU battled closely the entire game, with six ties throughout the night.
The Dukes, who have received votes in the IWLCA Poll for 13 consecutive weeks, never relinquished the lead after taking the 8-7 advantage with 16:43 remaining.
Sophomore Shannon Hawley (Camillus, N.Y.) posted her fifth hat trick of the season with four tallies to eclipse the 30-goal mark for the first time in her career.
Caitlin McCartneyMcCartney caused a game- and career-high five Dukes turnovers in addition to collecting a team-best four groundballs.
Delaware (9-5, 2-2 CAA) struggled with the draw as James Madison controlled 15 draws to just six for the Blue Hens.
Senior goalkeeper Tori Zorovich (Massapequa, N.Y.) registered five saves in the loss.
Stephanie Finley tallied seven draws in addition to three goals for the Dukes (8-5, 2-0 CAA). Schylar Healy earned the win by recording five saves.
“This was disappointing as you want to come out on top in a game like this. James Madison is definitely a worthy opponent and we knew going in to the game that it was going to be a battle. I thought our team fought hard in the final minutes, but ultimately the draw was a difference maker. It's a heartbreaker for sure.”
Caitlin McCartney each eclipsed this mark earlier in the season. The last time a Delaware squad had at least three players tally 30 goals in a season came during the 2007 campaign.
· McCartney has recorded at least one point in 43 consecutive contests while Chelsea Fay has tallied at least one point in 40 straight games.
