UD LAX BATTLES
The Blue Hens are dedicating the 2016 season to our loved ones who are fighting or have fought cancer. Tuesday's honorary team captain is Donna Wheble, mother of senior captain Abby Wheble. Donna's story began in October 2005 when, at the age of 43, she discovered she had invasive breast cancer. Her life was turned upside down with two young daughters to care for and the uncertainty of her diagnosis. With the support of her husband, family and friends, she battled through treatment. Ten years later, we celebrate Donna and her victory, as she is now cancer-free.

Kateri Linville called a possession timeout. The Blue Hens had the opportunity to pull within one and subsequently tie the game, but the Penn defense held tough as time expired. Kara Dattellas posted a balanced game with a team-high three draw controls to go along with four points (1g, 3a) and one groundball. Kirsten Hale led Delaware (2-1) with her first career hat trick and finished the game with three goals and one caused turnover. The Hens also saw multiple-goal games from Casey Lyons and Jamie Schwartz, who each registered two goals. Lyons added an assist for three points. Ali Karwoski grabbed a team-best three groundballs in the loss. Taylor Carpentier earned her second start of the year to notch five saves. Caitlin McCartney posted a career-best seven goals in addition to collecting a career-high seven draw controls as Delaware tallied 24 goals for the first time since 1999.
     · The Hens and Explorers are 1-1 all-time in Newark.
     · In the last matchup at Delaware Stadium, Casey Lyons posted seven points as UD set a Delaware Stadium record en route to an 18-7 victory over La Salle on March 5, 2014. Kateri Linville (Delaware '03) has led the Blue Hens to three consecutive winning seasons and an overall record of 46-42.
     · A two-time Atlantic 10 Coach of the Year, Candace Taglianetti Bossell (Ohio State '02) is in her eighth season at the helm of the Explorers.

ABOUT LA SALLE
The Explorers are 0-1 to start the year after a 13-2 loss to Temple last Wednesday. Lucy Loughlin made nine saves in her first collegiate start while Kate Fay scored both of La Salle's goals against the Owls. Last season, the Explorers finished the year 8-8 overall and 4-4 in the Atlantic 10. La Salle has been picked to finish in fifth in the A-10 Preseason Poll. Fay led the team with 40 goals and ranked fifth in the A-10 with 3.12 points per game in conference play.
