University of Delaware Student-Athletes Honored as Part of UD?s 167th Commencement Ceremony

NEWARK, Del. -- A total of 118 student-athletes were among the undergraduate and graduate students who were honored Saturday morning as part of the University of Delaware's 167th annual Commencement ceremony at Delaware Stadium.
A capacity crowd of family and friends was on hand to witness the conferring of undergraduate, master's and doctorate degrees under beautiful sunny skies at the 22,000-seat stadium.
Bryan Stevenson, a native of Milton, Del. and founder and executive director of the Alabama-based Equal Justice Initiative and award-winning author of Just Mercy: A Story of Justice and Redemption, was the commencement speaker.
Former student-athletes and current and former UD athletics staff members who earned their master's degrees were: Justin Burns - Football (Master of Science in Disaster Science and
Management); Kristen Carr - Women's Lacrosse Coach (Master of Business Administration); Cliff LaFemina - Athletics Facilities & Operations (Master of Business Administration); Danny Neeson - Athletics Facilities & Operations (Master of Business Administration); Laith Wallschleger - Football (Master of Business Administration);
Amira Idris - Track & Field (Master of Science in Entrepreneurship and Design); Brandon Worrall - Men's Lacrosse (Master of Science in Finance); Shannon Bell - Track & Field (Master of Education, Exceptional Children and Youth); Garrett Johnson - Men's Lacrosse (Master of Education, Exceptional Children and Youth); Thomas Allshouse - Men's Basketball (Master of Mechanical Engineering); Chelsea Best - Athletic Training (Master of Science, Exercise Science); Kellye Foulke - Women's Track & Field (Master of Science, Health Promotion); Lindsey Lamond - Athletic Training (Master of Science, Exercise Science).
In addition, former UD rowing standout and current mechanical engineering faculty member Jennifer Buckley (2001) received one of four 2016 Excellence in Teaching Faculty Awards
