The Blue Hens (2-1) posted their highest win margin in any game since a 24-6 triumph over La Salle on Feb. 25, 2015 and their highest win margin at home since a 17-5 win over No. 16 ranked
Georgetown in the 2015 season opener. Rutgers (2-2), which had a two-game win streak snapped, managed just 18 shots, turned the ball over 23 times, and failed to clear in 7 of their 17 attempts. The Scarlet Knights got a team-high three goals from Nicole Kopyta.
Delaware jumped out to a quick 8-0 lead in the opening 19 minutes and never looked back as six different players scored during the run, including two each by Schwartz and Rausa (at right).
The Hens eventually took a 9-2 lead at halftime and never led by less than six goals in the second half as they scored seven of the game's last eight goals.
The game was delayed twice by a storm that brought lightning, gusting winds, and drenching rain to the area. The game was delayed for just under two hours with 6:02 left in the first half.
• Schwartz moved closer to the 100-point mark for her career and now has 97 points (54 goals/43 assists) thanks to a four-point day
• Delaware returns to action March 3 when the Hens host Canisius at 6 p.m. as part of a four-game homestand to open the season
