Softball Preview: Mount St. Mary's

» The University of Delaware softball team will play a doubleheader against Mount St. Mary's on Wednesday, starting at 1 p.m.

» The Blue Hens are 13-7 on the season after splitting a doubleheader versus Penn State in their home opener last weekend. Two contests with Canisius were canceled due to inclement weather and travel conflicts. Senior Brooke Glanden recorded her 100th career RBI in the nightcap with a three-run double and added another with a home run in the sixth inning to lead the Blue & Gold to a 6-4 victory, the program's third win over a Power Five opponent this season.

» Mount St. Mary's is 6-10 overall after taking one out of two games in Friday's doubleheader versus Cornell and Morgan State. The Mount is batting .198 as a team and opponents have outscored them 87-38. Vanessa Martin leads the team with a .333 clip and 10 hits. Bridgette Gilliano has recorded a team-high 10 RBI on 13 hits, and is a perfect 13-13 in stolen base attempts. In the circle, graduate student Amanda Berkley has posted a 3.08 ERA with a 3-3 record, while leading the pitching staff with 19 strikeouts in 36.1 innings.
