Track & Field Opens 2022 Outdoor Season at Fred Hardy Invitational

RICHMOND, Va. – The University of Delaware track & field team used the momentum of their dominating performance at the ECAC Indoor Championships and carried it over to open the 2022 outdoor season at the Fred Hardy Invitational hosted by Richmond University Friday (Mar. 18). The Blue Hens won seven events at the invitational led by Marie-Frederique Poulin and Megan Albamonti. Poulin won the 400m hurdles, posting a new school record time of 59.79, which ranks eighth in the NCAA East Region and 14th nationally. Albamonti won the javelin with a throw of 47.03m (154-03), a mark that ranks 12th in the NCAA East Region and 25th in the country.
Halima Scott won the 200m with a time of 24.50 while Shylehn Ebuenga-Smith (25.63) and Kamylin Padgham (25.77) took fifth and sixth place, respectively.
Katie Hally won the 3000 steeplechase with a time of 11:40.66 while Samantha Side followed in second with a time of 11:42.30.
The Blue Hen 4x100 relay team of Trinity Tapper, Padgham, Ebuenga-Smith and Aja Davis crossed the finish line first with a time of 46.87.
Destiny DeBlock headlined the Blue & Gold in the high jump, leaping 1.60m (5'3") to earn a first-place finish. Alicia Lehman shined in the long jump with a 5.76m (18' 10.75") to win the event, moving her mark tied for fourth on the UD all-time performers list.
