Trio of Blue Hens Add Their Names to Track & Field’s Record Books at Larry Ellis Invite

PRINCETON, N.J. – The University of Delaware track and field team headed up to Princeton, N.J. for the two-day Larry Ellis Invite, hosted by Princeton University (Apr. 15-16). The Blue Hens trio of Tina Capparell, Susanna Weir and Jessica Harding led the way by rewriting the program's history books in their respective events.
Capparell set a new school record in the 3000m steeplechase after running a personal best time of 10:31.97, which was good enough for fifth place at the invitational. Weir ran a PR time of 4:31.48 in the 1500m (25th place), a time that now sits seventh in program history. Harding finished the 800m run in a new personal best time of 2:11.07 (12th place), which now sits in eighth place in UD history.
Winning her heat that placed her fifth overall in the 100m with a time of 11.92 was Aja Davis while Alicia Lehman leaped 5.59m (18-4 ¼) to finish the long jump in sixth place for the Blue Hens.
The 4x100 relay team consisting of Trinity Tapper, Shylehn Ebuenga-Smith, Kamylin Padgham and Davis finished the race in 46.36 to place third in the event.

The Blue Hens will return to action next Friday for a two-day meet (Apr. 22-23) at the Virginia Challenge, hosted by UVA. UD will then head Baltimore, Md. to compete at the Hopkins/Loyola Invitational, hosted by Johns Hopkins University on Saturday (Apr. 23).
