Northeastern Halts Baseball’s Six-Game Winning Streak

BROOKLINE, Mass. – Delaware baseball (15-15, 6-5 CAA) fell victim to a masterful performance by Northeastern starter Aiven Cabral, who tossed a complete-game shutout as the Huskies (24-6, 7-4) defeated the Hens 9-0 on Saturday.
The Blue Hens had runners on second and third with one out in the first but did not score, which would be the only time Delaware got a runner to third base during the game.
Northeastern scored six runs on six hits in the third inning to lead 7-0 and knock out starter Carter Welch. The Huskies added two more runs against reliever Joey Silan.
Anthony Gubitosi tossed a 1-2-3 inning in the eighth, fanning two batters, but the Hens did not record any runs in the ninth, snapping a six-game winning streak and falling 9-0.
The Blue Hens mustered four hits against Cabral, who struck out seven batters. Dan Covino extended his hitting streak to seven games while Bryce Greenly extended his streak to six.
The final game of the series is Sunday at 1:00 p.m. Nate Rolka toes the rubber.
