WASHINGTON, D.C. – The University of Delaware men's soccer team defeated the Revolutionaries 2-0 on Tuesday afternoon.

The Blue Hens now have an overall record of 6-2-2.

COACHES QUOTE

"A win and clean sheet on the road is always a good day, but we're happiest with the nature of the performance and the response of the group after a difficult week," head coach Tommy McMenemy said. "We were aggressive from the first minute, and didn't stop pressing and working until the final whistle, and didn't give up one shot on target. Now we recover and turn our attention to the next one."

Justin Ruth and T.J. Hastings each recorded a goal.
Hastings and Richard Monath both tallied a point with an assist.
Caelin Campbell made his first career appearance.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The match remained scoreless until Delaware took the 1-0 lead in the 22nd minute when Hastings headed the ball to Ruth in the middle. Ruth pulled off a slick shot with a bicycle kick that sent the ball past Duncan Wegner, the starting goalkeeper for George Washington.
Delaware added to the lead 18 minutes into the second half after the Blue Hen's offense managed to draw a free kick just outside of the box.
Monath took the kick, crossing it toward the left side of the goal. Hastings left the ground and scored on an insane diving header.
Delaware's defense denied any opportunity George Washington had to answer and the Hens earned the 2-0 victory.
