Men’s Basketball Starts Season Against Bucknell

NEWARK, Del. – The University of Delaware men's basketball team begins the 2024-25 campaign Monday night against Bucknell at 6:30 p.m. inside the Bob Carpenter Center.

ABOUT THE HENS
- Delaware returns seven members of the 2023-24 team, highlighted by starting guards, Niels Lane and Cavan Reilly.
- Lane played in all 33 games for the Blue Hens, averaging 9.7 points, 3.0 rebounds, and 1.6 assists per game, while Reilly appeared in 32 contests with 9.2 ppg, 2.2 rpg, and a team-best 1.3 spg.
- The Blue & Gold welcome eight newcomers this season, featuring five transfers and three freshmen. The transfer group is highlighted by Tahron Allen and Erik Timko, a pair of guards who were significant contributors at their previous stops.
- Allen was the NEC Tournament MVP as he led Wagner to a championship title and the NCAA Tournament. He registered 10.5 points and 5.1 rebounds per game, while shooting 40.5 percent overall and 44.1 percent from long range.
- Timko, a DII All-American at Jefferson, tallied 19.6 points, 4.2 rebounds, and 3.0 assists over his 32 games played last season. He shot 54.0 percent from the floor, including 43.7 percent from three-point range with 90 triples made.
- The 2024-25 season is the second under head coach John Griffin III.
- Ten of the 15 players on the roster are a junior or senior.
- Bucknell is led by four senior captains: Josh Bascoe, Elvin Edmonds, Ian Motta, and Pip Ajayi.
- In addition to the senior leaders, Bucknell trots out Noah Williamson, a 7'0" junior center from Latvia, who was Third Team All-Patriot League a season ago.
- Delaware won last year's season opener at Bucknell, 78-57.
- The Blue Hens have won three of the previous five matchups against the Bison dating back to 1995.
- Bucknell holds the all-time record 52-35.
- Delaware is 24-17 at home in the series and 1-0 under head coach Martin Ingelsby.
- Bucknell is the fourth most common opponent in program history. Most of those coming as conference foes in the East Coast Conference.
