Dumas, Nkwonta Shines As Track & Field Have A Strong Outing At Fastrack National Invite

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. -Â The University of Delaware track & field team headed to Staten Island, N.Y. Friday to compete in its final regular-season indoor meet at the Fastrack National Invite inside Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex. The Blue Hen flock of 27, headlined by Kadence Dumas and Kosie Nkwonta, put together an outing that featured 11 new personal- and three new season-best times/marks while rewriting the school history books.

HEN HIGHLIGHTS
- For the third-straight meet, Dumas captured victory in her individual event, this time it was the 800m. The rookie ran a PR time of 2:14.54, a time that now sits seventh in school history.
- Joining Dumas in the 800m was Jenna Scandale, Lauren Leath and Libby DeMichele, with the trio setting new PRs. Scandale finished the race winning her heat, seventh overall, with a time of 2:17.83 while Leath and DeMichele ran a time of 2:18.61 (11th overall) and 2:31.03 67th overall), respectively.
- Nkwonta won her second shot put event of the indoor season. The senior saw her fourth throw of the afternoon fly through the air for 13.34m to secure the victory over a field of 54 competitors.Â
- Carolyn Coletti headlined the 3000m and posted a monster PR. Coletti ran a personal-best time of 10:49.75 (ninth place in her heat, 29th overall), surpassing her previous time of 11:14.16, a time she set at the TCNJ Lions Invitational (Jan. 12, 2024).Â
- Destiny DeBlock and Taylor Johnson set season-best times in their respective events. DeBlock ran the 60m hurdles in 9.56 (20th) while Johnson ran the 60m dash in 7.81 (second place in her heat, eighth overall).
- On the jumps side, DeBlock also saw action in the long jump for the first time this season and leaped for a season-best mark of 4.94 while her teammate Sara Manson leaped for a PR mark of 11.04m to finish in sixth place in the triple jump.
- Leah Clear and Lindsey Volkman led the way with personal-best times in the mile. For the third time this season, Clear set a new PR in the event, posting a time of 4:58.49 (seventh place). Volkman captured 11th place thanks to a PR time of 5:07.19.
- Alexa Dougherty also set a new PR in the 400m, posting a time of 59.94 to finish third in her heat, 19th overall.
- Sarah Sharp set a PR in the high jump, leaping over the 1.50m bar to finish in fourth place and in the shot put, launching her second throw for 8.41m (49th overall)
- The 4000m DMR squad of Dumas, Leath, Scandale and Clear captured victory with a time of 12:19.36.
