No. 2-Seeded Men's Lacrosse Takes on Top-Seeded Towson for CAA Championship

NEWARK, Del. – The University of Delaware men's lacrosse team is set for its third consecutive CAA Championship game appearance as the No. 2-seeded Blue Hens square off against top-seeded Towson on Saturday, May 4. Game time is set for 3:30 p.m. at Johnny Unitas Stadium.

The Blue Hens look to become the first CAA three-peat champions since Towson won back-to-back-to-back championships from 2015 to 2017.
ABOUT THE HENS
- Delaware finished the regular season with an 8-4 overall record, going 6-1 in CAA action with the Blue Hens' only loss being to Towson.
- The Hens went 3-2 at home and 5-1 on the road this season.
- UD comes off a 13-12 win in overtime against Fairfield in which Mike Robinson sent Delaware to its third straight CAA Championship game with the game-winner
- UD leads the nation in least amount of turnovers per game at 12.92.
- The Blue Hens are ranked third in both man-up offense scoring percentage (.559) and scoring defense (9.00).
- Delaware is ranked 10th in scoring margin at 4.15 and seventh in saves per game at 13.85.
- Senior goaltender Kevin Ellington leads the country in save percentage (.603) and was named the 2024 CAA Defensive Player of the Year.
- Ellington is second in the CAA in goals against average (9.17), but leads in save percentage.
- The Hens had eight All-CAA players in total, the most of any CAA team.
- JP Ward joined Ellington on the First Team while Mike Robinson, Aidan Fritz, Reed Kurtz, and Matt Mongomery were all named Second Team.
- Freshmen Louie Atkinson and John McCurry were named to the All-Rookie team.
ABOUT THE TIGERS
- Towson finished the regular season with a 7-0 record in CAA play, the first team to ever go undefeated in CAA action.
- The Tigers defeated Drexel 18-8 on Thursday, May 2 in the first semifinal matchup to advance to the championship.
- The Tigers rank in the top-10 in 10 national team rankings.
- Towson ranks first in scoring defense, averaging 8.60 goals allowed to opponents.
- They are ranked second behind Notre Dame in scoring margin at +5.87 and are eighth in scoring margin.
- They are the only CAA team in the top-10 in both scoring defense and scoring offense.
- The Tigers had seven players named to the All-CAA team including the Offensive Player of the Year in Nick DeMaio and the Coach of the Year in Shawn Nadelen.
SERIES HISTORY
- This will be the 70th matchup all-time between the two rivals.
- Towson took the last contest 11-10 back on April 26 in Delaware Stadium.
- Delaware defeated Towson last season in the CAA Semifinals after falling to the Tigers in the regular season.
