Men's Soccer Opens the Season Victorious Against Howard
8/22/2024 6:18:00 PM | Men's Soccer
NEWARK, Del. – The University of Delaware men's soccer team took home a season-opener win of 3-0 against Howard on Thursday afternoon. The shutout marks a victorious start to head coach Tommy McMenemy's third season with the Hens.
ON THE RECORD
"I'm pleased with the result, but felt there was a lot of room for improvement in our performance," McMenemy said. "We need to move the ball at a higher tempo, and also improve our movement of the ball to control the possession more. With that said, we still found ways to create a number of great chances. The back four and Adam gutted out a clean sheet in difficult circumstances, so lots of positives to take away as well."
"It was a tough game against a solid opponent," senior goalkeeper Adam Vik. said. "Not the prettiest game we've played, but at the end of the day, three goals, three points, and a clean sheet is all that matters to start our season the right way."
HEN HIGHLIGHTS
The Hens return for a 7 p.m. game on Monday at Rutgers.
