Baseball Shutouts Siena in Friday Night Win

NEWARK, Del. – Strong pitching from the University of Delaware baseball team leads to a 10-0 win after eight innings against Siena on Friday at Bob Hannah Stadium.
With the win, the Blue Hens improved their record to 8-8 on the season.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Blue Hens return to Bob Hannah Stadium for a doubleheader starting tomorrow at 2 p.m. Game two of the doubleheader will start approximately 40 minutes after the conclusion of game one.

HEN HIGHLIGHTS
- Doug Marose pitched five strong innings, allowed just one hit, no earned runs, and struck out four batters. He retired 14 straight batters when he left the game.
- Following Marose was Evan Lewis and Dom Velazquez. They pitched the final five innings, allowed just one hit and struck out four batters. Marose was credited with the win and is 1-0.
- The last time the Blue Hens shut out a team was against Saint Peter's back on April 9, 2022.
- Blue Hens who had multiple hits were: Aaron Graeber (2-for-4, 3B, 2 RBI), Evan Bouldin (3-for-3, 2 BB), Aiden Stewart (2-for-5, 2 RBI), and Jackson Tyer (2-for-4)
HOW IT HAPPENED
- RBI singles from Brett Lesher and Tanner Donati in the bottom of the second inning scored the first two runs of the game.
- In the seventh, Stewart added to the lead with an RBI single, and Lesher earned an RBI off a walk with the bases loaded.
- In the eighth, the Blue Hens added insurance runs with an Andrew Amato added single, an Graeber triple, a Stewart single, a Brett Walmsley and a Matthew Minckler fielder's choice to earn the win.
