No. 19 Blue Hens Upended by Temple 11-6
3/14/2015 5:15:00 PM | Women's Lacrosse
The Hens also held a 11-7 advantage in draw controls, recorded two more groundballs, and had five less turnovers than Temple but could not rally from a 6-3 halftime deficit.
"I thought they (Temple) came here to compete and did a great job of preparing," said Delaware head coach Kateri Linville. "They exploited some of our weaknesses today. We were a little stagnant and we struggled to use our speed, move the ball, and finish our shots. We expected to come out and compete and win. Unfortunately we have learned two tough lessons back to back. We have a long season ahead of us and we need to use this game to get better. Our goal is to thrive on challenges and I have confidence in our team. We have a good group of kids who work hard and we'll find answers."
Temple (8-1), which won its fifth straight game and is off to its best start in 18 years, got three goals from Nicole Tiernan while Kathryn Skahan and Megan Tiernan each scored twice. Kakalecik recorded 13 saves.
Delaware will return to action this Wednesday, March 18, when the Hens host Towson University in their Colonial Athletic Association opener at Delaware Stadium at 6 p.m.
