Blue Hens Falter in 8-4 Loss at Canisius

BUFFALO, N.Y. – Typically an offensively explosive squad, the University of Delaware women's lacrosse team was held to a season-low in goals and points and was shutout in the second half late Wednesday afternoon as Canisius defeated the Blue Hens, 8-4, at Demske Sports Complex.
Junior Shannon Hawley (Camillus, N.Y./West Genesee), who led #rv Delaware (7-4) for the second consecutive game, posted two goals while classmate Emily Pollard (Merrimack, N.H./Merrimack) and senior Allison Hahn (Vienna, Va./James Madison) each tallied a goal apiece.
Ali Karwoski (Malvern, Pa./Great Valley) collected a career-high four groundballs in addition to tallying three caused turnovers for the second straight contest. The junior also controlled a team-best two draws for the Hens.
Furthermore, junior Erin Wein (Middletown, Md./Middletown) registered a game-high four caused turnovers alongside three groundballs.
Alex ZaugraSophomore Meghan McKnelly (Virginia Beach, Va./Cape Henry) made her collegiate debut in goal and finished the game with one goal allowed and one save in 8:43 minutes of play.
Ashley Bull and Erica Evans each logged hat tricks for the Golden Griffins (4-5) while Tori Quinn dished out two assists.

Caitlin McCartney was held without a goal for the first time this season.
