Six Blue Hens Score Multiple Goals in Win over Hofstra

HOMESTEAD, N.Y. – Six Blue Hens finished with multiple goals as (RV) Delaware men's lacrosse defeated Colonial Athletic Association foe Hofstra 15-7 on Saturday, March 25.
With the win, the Blue Hens improve their overall record to 6-3, and conference record to 2-0. Hofstra drops to 2-7 overall and 0-2 in conference play.
After a first quarter that saw a combined three goals between the two teams, the Blue Hens went off on a 5-1 run for the entire second quarter. The run was started by Cam Acchione and Brendan Powers, which gave the Blue Hens a 3-2 lead. Following a goal from the Pride that tied the game at 3-3, the Blue Hens finished the half off with three unanswered goals. Mike Robinson and Owen Grant scored back-to-back goals 10 seconds apart from each other with under three minutes left. The run was finished by Cam Acchione with 71 seconds in the half.
UD's run continued in the second half with three more unanswered goals. Grant and Joe Speers picked up goals within the first two minutes of the second half. Tye Kurtz scored his first goal of the game with under eight minutes to play in the quarter. His goal moved him up to second all-time in program history in points with 242, passing Randy Powers. Delaware added five goals in the fourth quarter. Two of which came from Clay Miller, while Powers, Robinson, and JP Ward each added to the Blue Hens lead. The Blue Hens out-scored the Pride 14-5 after entering the second quarter down 2-1.
As a team, the Blue Hens out-shot the Pride 47-34, including a 24-17 shots-on-goal advantage. UD caused 22 turnovers on defense, while committing 15 on offense.
Leading the way on offense for Delaware was Clay Miller, who scored his first hat trick of the season. Miller also picked up his 100th career point as a Blue Hen as well.
Miller, Kurtz, Robinson, Grant, Powers, and Acchione each had multiple-goal games. Ward led in assists with three.
The Blue Hens return to Delaware Stadium for a conference matchup against Hampton on Saturday, April 1.
