Ninth-Inning Rally Stuns Baseball Against George Washington

Attacking early, Delaware chased two runs across in the first inning thanks to a sacrifice fly by Tyler Leach and some heads-up baserunning by Joey Loynd, who came home after an errant throw on a Dan Covino stolen base attempt.
The Colonials answered back in the second inning with three runs to take the lead, but it was brief as Leach drove in his second run of the game to knot the affair at three.
GW once again took a brief lead before the Blue Hens mounted four consecutive singles, chasing four runs across to give Delaware its largest lead of the day at 7-4.
Wyatt Nelson came in in relief of starting pitcher Nate Rolka, allowing just one earned run in 4.2 innings pitched.
Heading into the ninth with a two-run lead, reliever Luke Pizzico took over for Dan Frake to try and earn the save, but after a misplay at first base, Pizzico allowed four hits, including a bases-clearing triple by Bryan Belo to give the Colonials a 10-7 lead.
Delaware went quietly in the ninth, falling for the fourth time in its past five games.
Defending CAA Champion Hofstra will come to town for Delaware's conference-opening three-game set starting on Friday.
