The University of Delaware Athletics Hall of Fame was established in 1997 to salute outstanding athletes, coaches, and administrators who have contributed to UD's athletic tradition of excellence. At the Hall of Fame's first induction ceremony, then President David P. Roselle told honorees and their guests, "In the truest sense today, while we are singling out 10 individuals to honor for their unique contributions to Delaware, we also are celebrating the tradition and heritage so much a part of UD athletics. The University is known and respected for its commitment to scholastic excellence in combination with athletic performance-- a winning combination for Delaware." Plaques for all inductees to the UD Athletics Hall of Fame are displayed in the Hall of Fame Lobby of the Bob Carpenter Center. |
